I have a confession to make. This will be of interest only to a segment of people I associate with, on LJ and elsewhere.
I toast Loki.
I've been in blots specifically for Loki. He's been part of my Big Three (Odin, Frigga, Loki) when my old bosses were trying to get me fired. I figured I needed all the bullshit and fancy footwork help I could get, in those circumstances. In all the blots I've led or attended with my former kindred, Laufey's Son was treated as a good guest: in fact, it was expected of him.
And you know what? He behaved like one. Wow. Whatta concept!
People can rattle on about Ragnarok and Thor and Sif and Baldur to their hearts' content, but, you know something? It really just sounds like leftover Christianity to me. None of the gods are squeaky-clean and sweetness and light.
If you don't want anything to do with Loki, fine. But, for the love of teeny turtles, do not start frothing at the mouth about how an organization is okay with Loki-toasting, O NOES! when just weeks ago someone flounced off the governing body and the group after pulling a drama queen scenario worhty of being posted to otf_wank.
This has done it for me. I'm taking the money I'd set aside to renew, and spending it on something I'd actually enjoy.
